Description
This stunning art deco era dress clip is made of pot metal, accented with sapphire blue rhinestones and glass cabochons. The smallest cabs are a lighter shade of blue than the larger stones. The shape of the clip is unusual, kind of like a fan, and it is nicely molded with filigree -style flowers. There is a great deal of texture and visual interest on this piece, with several different sizes of stones and cabs, some faceted and some smooth. The clip is nicely sized, measuring about 2 1/2" x 2 1/8". It is signed on the back with the mark of the New England Glass Works - a goblet with the letters "NE." New England Glass Works was a Providence, RI company that was active from about 1911 until they changed their name to Rice-Weiner & Co. in 1938.Condition is excellent with no major issues. All stones and cabs are present with lots of sparkle. There is light to moderate surface wear/scratching on some of the big oval stones, which is common on a piece of this age and not particularly noticeable. The body of the clip is in fine shape with no issues. The clip hardware is secure. This is a beautiful and versatile piece that you can wear as a pendant on a chain or clip to your clothing.
